Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever

Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, RMSF, is the most report AND most lethal rickettsial  illness in the United States.  Moreover, Arkansas along with North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Missouri account for over 60% of the cases reported.  This illness is caused by a bacterium spread by ticks.  Not only is this disease harmful to your pet, but it is also a zoonotic disease meaning that it can be spread from animals to humans.  With the prevalent tick season coming up, we STRONGLY recommend for our patients to be on a flea and tick preventative!
